![]() During the winter months (November-March) the weather is very comfortable, and can often be picture perfect. Temperatures are typically in the low to mid 70s during the day, and it can get cool at night, usually in the low to mid 60s. Sunny, dry days with little humidity are the norm. Occasionally a cold front will push southward through the islands, bringing a wind shift and perhaps a shower or two, but any weather associated with these fronts rarely lasts more than a day or two at the most. The water temperature at this time of year is typically also in the low 70s. During the summer months (April-October) the humidity rises as does the frequency of showers, but temperatures usually only get up to about the mid to upper 80s, falling to the low 70s at night. Due to its proximity to the ocean, the island of Eleuthera is blessed year round with cooling sea breezes, typically from the east, which keep the heat and humidity down. The water temperature in the summer heats up too, to around the mid 80s. During the height of summer, the ocean will sometimes be as calm as a lake, and quite spectacular. Back to the Top
Back to the Top Mosquitoes and sandflies are the main enemies, so we try to avoid them as much as possible by always camping on the windward side of the island, away from dense bush, casuarina trees and low lying areas. In general, bugs are not a problem except on particularly still nights in summer, and even then our campsite selection keeps their impact to a minimum. We do advise you to bring your personal choice of insect repellant, just in case. Back to the Top Of course! We welcome families and children on our adventures. Be prepared to have a family vacation you'll never forget! Back to the Top What about special dietary/medical needs? Please let us know in advance if you are vegetarian or vegan so that we can make appropriate meal choices. If you are taking any special medication then obviously you need to bring that with you. Back to the Top There are a number of quaint, interesting souvenir and gift shops in the various settlements that we can visit. Back to the Top |
